Roulette Betting Strategy 1

Doubling Up

If your looking for a doubling up roulette betting strategy your've come to the right place. Roulette has so many options available to players when deciding to bet on the roulette wheel. From the simple even money bets, to line bets to grouped bets and number bets the options seem almost endless as do the strategies that have been written for them over the years. But with every casino offering roulette it is obvious that the strategies have not turned the roulette wheel into a losing proposition for the house so is it a matter of the uneducated player or that the strategies do not work?

Lets start with strategies for the even money bets. Many strategies have been written for these types of wagers with the majority chasing either losses or winning streaks. For the purpose of the exercise we will assume we are betting on either Odd or Even on a single zero roulette wheel. It could just as easily be Red or Black or Numbers 1 to 18 or 19 to 36.

One of the most common strategies for the even money bet is the double up after loss. In theory it seems fine as we all know that neither one nor the other result of an even money bet will continue to come up forever. So if we are betting on Odd and it hasn't come up in 2 or more spins we just keep doubling our wager amount until it does. There are three problems with this approach. The first is we can't double forever as there is a table limit to the amount we can wager. The second is we would need a huge stake to cover the size of some of the bets. And the third is we can be placing a huge bet to win a single dollar.

As an example, you have been betting on Even and doubling the wager amount from the time it hasn't come up for two consecutive spins starting with a single dollar bet. It now hasn't come up in 10 spins of the wheel and you have doubled your wager on spins 3 to 10. Your wager amount is now $256, during this series your total amount wagered is $511 and if you win you stand to win only $1. To combat the low return there has been variations to the straight double-up strategy such as the double + 1 or double + 2 strategies. In these cases, rather than a straight double you double the bet amount then add 1 or 2 units.

We have run the 3 strategies through our simulator, placing bets when either Odd or Even hasn't come up for between 2 and 10 times which allows for table limits. The tables below show the number of spins, the number of spins played, the total amount wagered, the starting stake, the ending stake and the return on the amount wagered.

Now as you can see, the results are not all that promising. During the simulation we only came out in front once over 10,000 spins and over 100,000 spins we achieved a return of 97% on our wagered amount. The length of streaks often persist past the point of the table limit which results in some big losses. So while this system, as it stands, can produce wins in the short term it will surely produce losses over the long term. However, there are two further variations that will affect the return. The first is to abandon a series after fewer double-ups as shown in the tables below.

By abandoning the double-up sooner we have managed to reduce the overall amount wagered and the amount lost but in doing so we have also reduced our overall return. Even with the simulator showing two winning sessions over 10,000 spins the results are not good enough to warrant using this as a system.

Another variation to the system is to start placing bets later rather than abandoning the doubling sooner. If we look at the following tables we see a definite improvement when we don't start the betting until there have been 5 consecutive misses on Odd or Even and then doubling until there have been up to 14 consecutive misses.

We now see an overall profit with 8 of the 10 runs through the simulator showing a winning percentage. This system will still produce losing streaks and we are betting on less than 10% of the total spins but over time it is likely to make a profit. To minimize the losing streaks you can start betting even later but you will be reducing the number of spins that you will bet on even further as shown in the tables below.

The simulator showed no losing streaks when starting the betting at 8 consecutive misses but it also showed that you only get to bet about 1% of the time. The fact that the simulator didn't show any losses does not mean that losses won't occur, they should be few and far between but they will still occur occasionally. With the very limited betting opportunities produced by this system it is unlikely that it would be of much use unless combined with a more active strategy.

Before considering any of these strategies make sure you know the table limits, the minimum and maximum wagers you can place on the even money bets and how many times you can double up before you reach the limits. When playing online, ensure you find a game where you do not have to place a wager on every spin. And if you are considering combining these strategies with other strategies, or playing these strategies with all even money bets simultaneously to ensure more action, be aware that you may reach table limits before you reach an individual bet limit and you are likely to require a huge stake to cover all bets.

If applied correctly, the double-up roulette betting strategy systems can work consistently in your favor.
